Saskatoon is a city in central Saskatchewan, Canada, on the South Saskatchewan River. Residents of the city of Saskatoon are called Saskatonians. The city is surrounded by the Rural Municipality of Corman Park No. 344. The 2011 Census, had the city population as 222,189, and the census metropolitan area population as 260,600, making it the largest city in Saskatchewan.

The Snowbirds flew overhead as the Memorial Cup landed on the shore of the South Saskatchewan River.

Fans of the Saskatoon Blades and other Canadian Hockey League teams gathered at the Vimy Memorial in Kiwanis Park Thursday to kick off the Memorial Cup tournament and watch the iconic Canadian Forces aerobatics squad, the Snowbirds, fly by.

Memorial Cup: Memorial Cup To Arrive In Saskatoon, Thursday

The Arrival of the Memorial Cup Ceremony will be held on May 16, 2013 at Kiwanis Park at the Vimy Memorial, in downtown Saskatoon.  The ceremony will be conducted between 11:30am and 1:30pm local time.

The Cup will arrive with the assistance of the Canadian Forces and a fly-over of the Canadian Forces Snowbirds is expected.

The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Zachary Fucale of the Halifax Mooseheads is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week after posting a 2-1-0-0 record with a goals-against-average of 2.35 and save percentage of .935 for the final playoff week ending May 12.

Memorial Cup: Teams Officially Confirmed For Memorial Cup

The teams are finally confirmed for the 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup.

The teams who will be taking part in the ten-day tournament are the Saskatoon Blades (Host), Portland Winterhawks (WHL Champions), London Knights (OHL Champions) and the Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL Champions).

Matteau Not To Return As Armada Assistant Coach

The Blainville-Boisbriand Armada announced on Tuesday that assistant coach Stephane Matteau will not return to the club next season.

The Armada said the decision was made following a meeting between management and Mr. Matteau.

Stephane's son, Stefan Matteau Jr., was released by the Armada during the teams semifinal series with the Baie-Comeau Drakkar after an altercation with head coach Jean-Francois Houle.

Matteau has spent the last two seasons as Blainville-Boisbriand's assistant coach.
