Girard, Asselin & Blain Named TELUS Three Stars Of The Week
The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League announced it's TELUS three stars of the week for the period of January 9th to January 15th.
Shawinigan Cataractes goaltender Gabriel Girard, Chicoutimi Sagueneens right winger Guillaume Asselin and Victoriaville Tigres defensemen Jérémie Blain have picked up the awards.
First star of the week went to Shawinigan Cataractes goaltender Gabriel Girard. Girard posted a record of 2-0-0-0 during the period. Girard's best game of the week came on Thursday night as he made 29 saves in a 4-1 win over the Saint John Sea Dogs at Harbour Station. The native of Varennes, Quebec also made 27 saves on Saturday night in a 2-1 shootout win over the Bathurst Titan.
Second star of the week went to Chicoutimi Sagueneens right winger Guillaume Asselin. Asselin recorded four goals and four assists in three games for the Sagueneens. The native of Quebec City, Quebec had his best game of the week on Friday as he recorded two goals and added an assist in a 7-4 win over the Halifax Mooseheads in a game that could have been seen on Rogers Sportsnet and TVA Sports.
Third star of the week went to defensemen Jérémie Blain. Blain during the week posted three goals and added five assists while also recording a +8 rating in three games with Victoriaville. The native of Longueuil, Quebec had his best game on Sunday as he recorded a goal and added three assists in a 8-1 win over the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.
