Deslauriers To Miss World Under-17 Hockey Challenge
When Team Quebec steps on the ice to open the 2012 World under-17 Hockey Challenge they will be missing a defensemen.
Cape Breton Screaming Eagles rookie defensemen 16 year old Jean-Simon Deslauriers was forced to withdraw from the tournament for team Quebec due to a shoulder injury in which he suffered during December 4th's game against the Gatineau Olympiques at Centre 200.
This is the second shoulder injury the native of Trois-Rivières, Quebec has had to deal with this season. The Screaming Eagles first round pick in 2011 missed 12 games with a shoulder injury which he first suffered on September 10th against the P.E.I. Rocket.
Deslauriers confirmed in a Trois-Rivières, Quebec newspaper on Wednesday that he met with his doctor in Cape Breton and he advised him that the shoulder was not fully recovered.
"It's better everyday" said Deslauriers when asked by Even Strength via Facebook on Wednesday night.
Quebec Remparts 16 year old defensemen Mathieu Boily will replace Deslauriers on the team Quebec roster.
Team Quebec will hit the ice on for their first game of the tournament on Thursday, December 29th as they take on team Atlantic
